After many years living in the USA and taking some unforgettable December trips, I\u2019ve found this month to be one of the most magical times to explore – from festive towns, and snowy escapes, to winter sun. These are my personal favorite places to visit, all based on my own travels…<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

1. Leavenworth, Washington <\/h2>\n

In December, no place wowed me quite like Leavenworth \u2014 with snowy Bavarian streets (the snow lasts right through January<\/a> and February)<\/a>, the scent of spicy mulled wine, and the sound of carolers filling the air, it felt like it was straight out of a sentimental Christmas movie! The Village of Lights: Christmastown<\/a> enchanted me with thousands of twinkling lights, festive meet-and-greets with Santa in the picturesque square, and even eerie Krampus figures from old Alpine folklore!<\/p>\n

Just 2.5 hours from Seattle<\/a>, I spent a long weekend at the romantic 4-star Storybook Riverside Inn<\/a>, taking sleigh rides through the glacier-carved Icicle Valley, snowshoeing the Icicle River Trails and tubing at the Leavenworth Winter Sports Club hill, sipping on clove-infused gl\u00fchwein at festive stalls, and popping into the quirky Nutcracker Museum<\/a>. <\/p>\n
