As a rough guideline, administrators usually require editors to have made more than 500 useful non-botlike edits, and to have been active in the last thirty days. Patrollers and License reviewers don't have to request this flag.
A study of anarchist movements in the canton of Bern, Switzerland, in collaboration with the user "Aristoxène". I cannot share the Swiss Federal Archives PDF documents because I am a new user and not the author of the documents. Thank you. Qody73 (talk) 10:28, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Aristoxène seems to have had some copyright issues this year (and not knowing that under Berne, copyright is automatic and must be waived in writing). I could consider a short term granting of the flag based on need though, and then see how it goes. Abzeronow (talk) 01:16, 2 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
because then the community should take seriously the considerations of a contributor without a user account who contributes only with his own IP address I don't know in the slightest who this a1cb3 is so you have no right to accuse me of that Sigismondo1996 (talk) 21:52, 9 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm requesting the Autopatrol right to be able to upload new versions of images with higher resolution and improved transparency. Thank you. Avayak (talk) 07:24, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I want to overwrite a file File:どらもっち.jpg because I find the white balance to be way off (enough to be jarring when i was reading the article that uses this file). I'm not a frequent overwriter, but I read the overwrite policies and I think my edit is a legitimate one considering the nature of the file (its uses and its place in the articles) and I might want this right for future use. I'm an established editor over at zhwiki. Thank you!! Bluedeck06:15, 16 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
As a rough guideline, administrators usually require editors to have made at least 1,000 useful, non-botlike edits or a large amount of justified renaming requests at Commons before they will consider granting the filemover right.
I have been contributing to Commons since 2019 and I am in process to onboard a lot of new users too. Sometimes while uploading files, new users make mistakes and then it becomes difficult to change names. Plus, many times I see names of files are not given properly while editing. These rights will be helpful in these regards. Thank you. Brihaspati (talk) 15:06, 8 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Brihaspati, thank you for applying. I can see just one RR from you, that too from March 2020. If I am not missing something (which you can point to), I would advise you to gain some experience with this and come back later. Shaan SenguptaTalk10:24, 10 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I am a contributor of Wikimedia Commons since 2014. My total edit count is over 60,000. I upload large number of files in regular intervals. In the process inadvertently many files get incorrect name. Sometimes I feel adding extra descriptions to the file name. Also, I can change incorrect file name or files with very less description. Thus it is important that I am granted file renaming rights. I will be highly obliged if you could grant me filemover privilege. Thank you. Amitabha Gupta (talk) 11:53, 11 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I could use filemover rights to fix faulty names of files I would like to crop, or the cropped versions if I uploaded too hastily. Also some other files I'd stumble upon, if they could clearly use renaming - ambiguously or erroneously named. Thank you. Mithoron (talk) 20:54, 12 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I am working with around 60,000+ PID Bangladesh photos. Most of them needs renaning and some cropped images also needs the name of the specific person in the filenane. I am also working with other renaming of files. Needs filemover rights so that I don't have to request each time for renaming. Thank you. Rht bd (talk) 03:18, 15 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Shabe(talk·contributions·Statistics·Recent activity·block log·User rights log·uploads·Global account information) (assign permissions)I request file renaming quite often.Lately, I've been asking to change Russian-language names that use the outdated, USSR word 'Белоруссия' (Byelorussia) instead of the modern 'Беларусь' (Belarus) for the current state. That is the 4th or 3d criterion for renaming: either to keep 'Белоруссия' for the files about the USSR (4) or to completely change it to 'Беларусь' (3), since the country was always called 'Беларусь' by its people: not only in Belarusian, but also in Russian.Examples include: [1], [2], [3].Similarly, I've been requesting the renaming of Молдавия→Молдова (Moldova), Киргизия→Кыргызстан (Kyrgyzstan), Башкирия→Башкортостан (Bashkortostan).Sometimes, I would also like to correct the spelling, as in [4], [5].P. S. I already have the filemover flag on Russian Wikipedia, so I have some experience. I believe having one here would save some time of the other filemovers. Thank you. I'm an autopatroller on WikiCommons with several meaningful contributions. My work is focused primarily on the vectorization of flags. I am an active Wikigraphist who is happy to take requests for vectorizing low-quality bitmap flags and coats of arms. As an autopatroller, I also help improve existing SVG-traced flags and files with bad vectorization in general, which often need to be renamed for harmonization purposes. Having file-moving rights would make this process easier and quicker. Thank you. Feitidede☆゚.*16:10, 17 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You only made four edits this year before the request and I do not see any anti-vandalism work in the last two years. Are you sure you need the right? GPSLeo (talk) 19:37, 7 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
For a rough advise, do not seek this flag if you have not made about 500 useful edits on Wikimedia Commons unless you associate with any Wikimedia affiliate, or campagins such as Wiki Loves Earth
